THE VOID JOURNAL is an underground music webzine ,
officially launched on the 5th of January 2017 (it
actually started as a blog on wordpress earlier, but the
concept was completed and formalized on that date).
The idea behind it is clear from the very beginning – to pay
due respect to the lesser known and specific dark sounds of the
Bulgarian and global underground, especially those of the black
metal genre.
To give shelter to the most fascinating titles of the music world,
which often remain neglected by the media or are presented in
a mediocre and inadequate way.
As an ideology, ‘The Journal’ or ‘THE VOID’, as many of you call
it, supports the belief that underground music and culture is the
main way to fight and destroy mediocre thinking, to
fight against the limitations of society.
In other words, this is not just a website, but a symbol of
rebellion against society, against its lower manifestations.
And furthermore, following the path of Luciferianism as a
philosophy, the site follows the belief in the power of the
individualist against the mass.
THE VOID JOURNAL is a place where an individual shares their
passion for music and strives to spread the best of obscure genres
on a daily basis, whether it is popular or not.
This isn’t the place to see news about Iron Maiden or other bands
of that caliber – this is the place to come across news , reviews
and interviews , featuring new and often completely unknown bands
and albums, or old and cult names that are making subjugating music
that takes your breath away.
In short, a truly cult venue, for cult listeners with an open mind,
certainly far away from the poser scene…
Some facts about The Void Journal:
1. The Void Journal was founded on January 5th, 2017. Quite a thoughtful date – the church feast called „Krystovden“ is celebrated then. A devilish wink to the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the kickoff of the „conversion“ with fascinating music under the burning wing of The Void Journal.
2. The main genre that ventures onto the site is BLACK METAL. Occasionally specific genres as dark folk, death metal, doom metal , post-black metal and post-rock genres find their way into the webzine’s pages, too.
2. In 2019, two years after its inception, the site gained „popularity“ (such a dirty word…) and began working directly with musicians, labels and PR agencies, becoming an official udnerground online mediа.
3. The Void Journal is the first Bulgarian webzine working directly with labels like Season of Mist, Terratur Posessions, Prophecy Productions & etc. The site is their first (and for now only) official media partner in Bulgaria.
4. The site is currently most visited in countries like Bulgaria, USA, Germany & France, but these stats change daily and the reach is expanding.
5. Monthly, the site has about 400 000 visits (in the less active periods).
6. The Void Journal is the first online media in the Balkans dedicated entirely to the cult of the darker side of the underground scene – in particular, black metal.
7. The Void Journal is the first online media in the Balkans entirely created and maintained by a woman (and her undying love for music).
