Dark ritualistic soundscapes and cosmic hallucinations coming in waves in the form of assertive drum blasts and distorted guitars drowned out by a furious primal calls – this is how the first odyssey of the international black metal band Parfaxitas, “Weaver of the Black Moon”, feels.
The debut was released at the end of May via Terratur Possessions, showcasing further evidence of the creativity of Whoredom Rife’s K.R, Almyrkvi/Sinmara/Slidhr’s B.Einarsson, Merihem/Oculus/Manetheren’s Azlum and Suffering Hour’s YhA, who together merge into one entity in otder to transform their separate energies into a manic whirlwind, ready to subdue the listener’s senses with its diverse range of sounds and sensory-provoking moments.
I think it’s extremely rare to come across something so organic in the recent years. Something containing both a full goblet of frenetic energy and musicianship. Everything you’re used to hear from the main bands of the musicians is undoubtedly present here as well, but under the following condition – it’s all combined into one, thus forming an entirely new identity in the form of Parfaxitas and “Weaver of the Black Moon”.
I hope this is not the last album of the same line-up under the Parfaxitas banner for a lot of reasons – partly because the work carries phenomenal energy and provides a unique listening experience and also, because I don’t know if you can realize it at the moment, but two of the most adored scenes in the world of black metal – Norwegian and Icelandic – merge into one giant beast, charged with the force of both worlds to the limit.
From the very beginning you will be impressed by the specific style of B.Einarsson’s drumming, which you know well from Almyrkvi and Sinmara, as the vocals of K.R. can be recognized anywhere, at any time, even at just the sonic frequency of a whisper, though more specific appeals bordering on despair and damnation are also present here.
From the opening ‘Breath Of The Thoughtless Light’ to the closing ‘Sea Of Blood/Fields Of Nightmares’, ‘Weaver of the Black Moon’ haunts us with immersive rhythmic passages filled with venomous pulsating and captivating melodies that make the listener’s skin crawl and send him right into the dimension of Parfaxitas, closer and closer to their Draconian heart.
Throughout its approximately 47-minute duration, the album’s tempos and various dynamics are well-matched and flirt with each other, with the organized bursting creative chaos of each track recreating a mystical atmosphere that’s both ethereal, aggressive and sublime.
Esoteric, sinister and insanely beautiful, “Weaver of the Black Moon” sounds like music rising from the cavernous Luciferian depths. The album combines raw energy and a magical arcane atmosphere, creating an eerie nightmarish anthem, overflowing into a beautiful enigmatic extravaganza of sounds, illuminating the bleakest realms of the unfathomable. Falling under the spell of Parfaxitas will be an ominous and inspiring experience.
