The Croatian black metal project Hibernum– an effort of the talented black metal master Insanus, has unleashed its debut full-length record,“Djavo”. The record is out today via Satanath Records and InsArt Records!
HIBERNUM emerged in the early 2000s as a project deeply rooted in the raw essence of black metal. Originally conceived while working alongside Azaghal (Unholy Inquisition, Black Cult), the band was meant to pay homage to the origins of the genre while forging its own path. However, following the release of the demo EP “Cold and Worse” in 2003, the project was put on hold due to other commitments. Nearly two decades later, in 2020, Hibernum resurfaced with the single “Heavenly Aevangeli:Kum”, featuring Knjaz (Zvijer, Sahrana) on vocals. This release marked a new chapter, reigniting the vision that had been growing over the years. With an arsenal of riffs and ideas accumulated over time, 2023 became the moment to fully resurrect Hibernum. Musically, Hibernum blends raw black metal with an avant-garde edge, pushing the boundaries of traditional extremity. Lyrically, the band delves into themes of misanthropy, alienation, and defiance against dogmatic societal beliefs. The result is a sound that is both dark and relentless, challenging listeners while evoking a profound sense of unease and introspection. Now, with renewed focus and a reignited creative fire, Hibernum stands poised to carve its own path through the abyss once more…
