KIR is a brand new Polish black metal duo, based out of Kraków. Their  debut release “L’appel du vide” is scheduled to drop on December 6th via Godz Ov War Productions and is set to offer a rapid introduction to one of the top black metal communities in the world. Featuring instrumentation performed by Ferment (Poroniec), vocals provided by Harvest, and guest drumming by Krzysztof Klingbein, this debut drops with fire and brimstone, set to consume any hesitation in its wake.

“The Call of the Void”, as translated  in English, is an album that delves into themes beyond the cosmic depths, digging deeper into misanthropy and views on the insignificance of human nature and its vices.  The offering explores the dark and mysterious recesses of the human psyche, reflecting the sinister appeal of the darker aspects of life. The band’s sound transcends the  traditional boundaries, merging influences from various metal subgenres, creating a texture-rich and profoundly unsettling sonic journey.

If you’re hungry for a dose of raging hatred and nihilistic comfort in harsh yet elevated and complex melodies, the album will slam it into your face as soon as you hit the play button. Controlled and ferocious anger, aimed at the fragile human nature, and raw energy ready to tear your flesh and soul apart, are fused with layers of emotionally charged vocal performances (including shamanic chants), dense guitars, and smooth drums, weaving a grim tapestry  – a symbol of destruction, corruption, but also transcendence beyond the cycle of the earthly realms.

With five tight tracks spanning around thirty minutes, KIR showcase the characteristic raw energy and misanthropic tension of the Polish black metal scene, and I believe I’ve just encountered an entity with immense potential. Their debut album , “L’appel du vide”, is brutal, concise and crude – a record that  grabs you effortlessly and rewards you with a rich array of auditory experiences.
