Hailing from France, SUPPLICES reveal a first glimpse from their forthcoming offering, “De l’Infâme et du Trépas”, scheduled for official release on January 30 via Chapitre XIII.
With this second opus, SUPPLICES returns with a cleaner and more massive production, but one that still has dirt under its fingernails: dark and narrative Black Metal that gives voice to the madness of a medieval peasant crushed by social constraints, dogmas, and punishments, to the point of implosion. At the center of the inferno, Gévaudan (vocals) unleashes a mind-blowing vocal range – from tortured groans to pure fury – as if each track were a confession wrested from the stake. Musically, the band claims an approach without boundaries, from ambient to the most brutal, sometimes within the same song, with an atmospheric density and an assumed “apocalyptic” melancholy.
