Hailing from Slovenia, Cvinger present the first glimpse into their forthcoming new album, “Rites Ov Flesh”. The offering will be released on August 20 via Void Wanderer Productions, with pre-orders now active here: https://voidwanderer.com (both CD and vinyl available). The album was recorded at Studio 369, and was mixed and mastered by Tim Draksler. The cover art was crafted by Dhomth Art.
Cvinger was established by Lucerus, Bagot and Krieg Machine in Domžale during the winter of 2011 and 2012. In 2013, they unleashed their first demo, titled Abyss of Horns, followed by the EP Monastery of Fallen in the same year. In 2014, Obscurum joined as the bassist, and Morgoth took the reins on drums. Together, they crafted their debut album Enthronement of Diabolical Souls, and embarked on their first one-week tour across East-ern Europe. This tour set the stage for subsequent performances alongside titans of the Scandinavian black metal scene, such as Marduk, Gorgoroth, Kampfar and Gehenna.
In 2016, Cvinger made their way to Sweden to record their second full-length album, Embodied in In-cense, at Endarker Studios. Released that year under Art Gates Records, it was first presented to audiences in China during a 20-date promotional tour. By 2018, the band was already in the process of writing new material and played a number of individual concerts before the pandemic struck. In 2023, they released their third full-length album Doctrines by the Figures of Črnobog, under the Via Nocturna label, and they are currently commanding the stage with powerful live performances. Cvinger unapologetically fuses black and death metal with the mystique of ancient Slavic religion, delivering a performance that serves as a profound ritual offering to higher powers.
On the new album, “Rites Ov Flesh”, Cvinger are exploring with even more depth the ritualistic and spiritual practices found within the left-hand path traditions of Slavic and Indian nomadic tribes. The album delves into the themes of inner transformation and spiritual sacrifice – through meditation, spiritual visualization, extreme fasting, the use of so-called sacred plants, and the exploration of Aghori sexual rites as symbolic acts of transcendence.
