Hailing from Romania, the solo atmospheric/ post-black metal entity Pâenil Era reveals a new glimpse into his forthcoming offering, “A Wilting Fountain” – an album that shines a light on the earthly, the liminal and the spiritual, using an old Romanian carol as its opening incantation and guide. The thread running through all five songs is self-confrontation: starting from the noise of the outside world and moving inward, until the only thing left to face is yourself.
Founded in Timisoara, Romania around 2012, “Pâenil Era” represents an anagram of the Romanian words ‘Pâlnie Rea’, which translates to ‘Bad Funnel’. Symbolizing a broken or partly functional filter that takes in a flow of subconscious dark thoughts, it represents an attempt to connect with the subconscious and give a voice to the dark side of the psyche.
Written and produced by “Erwin Weber”, the upcoming album remains rooted in post-black metal while expanding its dynamic range, pushing into both quieter atmospheres and fiercer aggression than heard on the previous album, “Idle Cage”.
The album will be released September 9th via Neuronoir on CD and cassette, and will be available on all major streaming platforms.
