Hailing from the mysterious lands of Malaysia, Antaboga reveal their new dark offering, “Ritual Setan II: Patahkan Jari Seru Mangkat” – a continuation of the EP “Ritual Setan : 9 Tahun Pancawara” (2025). The album will be released on CD by Hutan Mati Records in the weeks to come.
Antaboga is the name of a serpent deity in Javanism, Sunda Wiwitan, and Balinese Hinduism, and this is at the core of the band’s artistry – Nusantara Paganism refers to the diverse, indigenous animistic and shamanistic belief systems of the Malay Archipelago. Far before the arrival of global religions, the region’s spirituality was rooted in nature worship, ancestral veneration, and mysticism. While the term encompasses a wide variety of localized tribal and folk traditions, they share a core focus on cosmocentric ethics: the belief that rivers, trees, and mountains possess inherent spiritual essence. Antaboga delve deeper with their new offering, exploring the “siluman” depths. In Malaysia and the broader Nusantara region, the word “siluman” generally refers to a mythical shape-shifting spirit, demon, or phantom – as you will explore, “Ritual Setan II: Patahkan Jari Seru Mangkat” delves deeper into the dark depths of Nusantara and its mysteries, conjuring the shadows with blood, fire and bones.
