Signal Rex announces “On The Throne of a Forgotten God”, the debut full-length from Finland’s STORMPYRE, due for release this autumn on CD and vinyl LP.
Hailing from Turku, STORMPYRE first emerged earlier this year with “Rapture Made Flesh,” the first preview of their forthcoming debut. A strictly limited promotional tape followed at the same time, distributed among close friends of the band and selected label customers, where it received a remarkably strong response. Their first live appearance in Finland followed later in the year, building further momentum ahead of the album’s release.
Across ten tracks, On The Throne of a Forgotten God unfolds as a continuous descent into an arcane world of solar sacrifice, forbidden divinity and powers whose names have survived long after their worshippers disappeared. Prelude, interludes and postlude divide the album into something closer to a ritual sequence than a conventional collection of songs, with each passage drawing the listener further into its mythology.
At its core, On The Throne of a Forgotten God tells the story of Zro’Gaeth, and of how enough torment and pain can change a man into something completely different. The rest is left for the listener to discover. Musically, the album is built around the work of Vorgoth Stormwrought, responsible for guitars, drums, bass and songwriting, while Byal’Kruiv provides vocals, lyrics and the lore surrounding the record. Hexlord Jackal contributes synthesizers, adding another layer to its ritualistic and otherworldly atmosphere. Production, recording and mixing were handled by Vorgoth Stormwrought, with mastering by Oriflamme Audio. The STORMPYRE logo was created by Aethervortex.
