DECOHERENCE is a specific black metal band , combining the emptiness of cosmic space and the horror of its infinity, magnified tenfold through the prism of sonic terror and dissonant distorted spaces, overturning the mind and the senses.

‘Order’ is the third full-length album from the UK experimentalists and it reminds us of the microscopic importance of human existence with appropriate poignancy, forcing the listener to open their mind to provocative journeys through unknown territories, stitched together by eerie and ear assaulting guitars, drums and bass that, in addition to the erupting vocals, conjure an atmosphere of claustrophobia and at the same time, of soaring in a weightless state – a true dissonance created by the jostling between extremes.

If you’re hearing their music for the first time, you’ll undoubtedly draw at least a small parallel to the work of a number of other names due to the similar incorporation of various more experimental and distinctive elements in each of the tracks, including the distinctly industrial flavour. If, like me, you’re a die-hard fan of Blut Aus Nord’s darker works, you like Ulcerate and Darkspace, for example… then Decoherence will be a very pleasant surprise for you. And for those connoisseurs who already know the band well – Decoherence invade uncompromisingly once again and are ready to transport you into their cosmic trance, full of violence and non-conformism.

Within six tracks and a total duration of just over forty minutes, DECOHERENCE completely lift the curtain and assault the human species with a direct cosmic assault of synthetic and aggressive sound that provokes the imagination.

In the album you will hear music that is not just a psychedelic journey among the darkest corners of infinity, but also touches on the increasingly relevant themes of the insignificant role of man in the cosmic existence, the themes of time and space, dimensions and painful knowledge. In short – you will be assaulted with intelligently composed and played experimental black metal that obsesses completely, evoking visions from the depths of the pulsating cosmic abysses.

The work is not inspired by literature and the now increasingly genre-entrenched works of Lovecraft, but looks entirely to science and the  nihilistic view of existence, the approach is aggressive and steeped in the band’s tradition of provoking hallucinations through its seemingly chaotic and dark as dark matter compositions.

The rhythm of each piece merges and changes almost constantly, adding and removing layers of instrumentation in a captivating manner, resulting in a wandering between ritualistic ambient-like  atmospheres and pulsating smooth melodies to fully assaulting the ear with more aggressive sections that echo like a planetary collision in space. There’s no shortage of sonic experimentation with electronics and effects, but I leave those to your imagination for the moment – experiencing them for yourself is what counts in this case.

While relatively unconventional, „Order“ brings us an outright black metal experience that pushes the boundaries of the genre. A specific album that is very hard to tear yourself away from even after a few listens. A cosmic darkness – fierce and provocative, that swallows you up like a black hole and spits you out into a different and unknown place amidst the dangerous interplanetary depths and the mysteries of the curves of time.
