In an age of impostors and trembling souls who are daily
changing their ideology, Serpents Oath rise with their
artistic inspirations and total dedication to their path and
invite us to join the long awaited triumph of the Prince of
Darkness.
Devastating fury and true power – this can be expected when
encountering any album by the Belgians Serpents Oath, who manage to
recreate the purest black flame through their music and introduce
the listener to the world of absolutely sweeping reality. And this
brutal tradition is fully respected with the band’s new album,
‘Revelation’!
‘Revelation’ is the third part of Serpents Oath’s trilogy, which started with their debut full-length album ‘Nihil’ and was followed by the second full-length title ‘Ascension’, which was strongly marked as album of the year in many charts, including the one of The Void. And while in “Ascension” it was about personal enlightenment and power, about the Black Flame of spiritual enlightenment when one discovers the Source within himself, in “Revelation” the journey from initiate to adept is described from the point of view of the Apocalypse – as an all-consuming fire that ravages everything in its path.
The Eternal City trembles beneath its own ruins and the
mutilated bodies of the Angels of the Host, and a trail of blood
leads to the throne of god. And on it, while surrounded by the
mourning creatures and their agony, sits the forsaken son,
returned from exile – the newly proclaimed King of Heaven.
Satisfied with the fine wine of vengeance and bloody angelic
tears, the Morning Star gazes through the smoke, the raging
flames and the kneeling seraphim in chains. He looks to the
dawn of a new era, a new beginning, a new universal order. He looks
fondly upon his kingdom, convinced that much better times are
stored in time.
Such painting outlines the story told throughout the album and is
also well depicted in the album cover, drawn by Néstor Ávalos.
Rewritten Revelation. The rebellion of the Dark One.
An epic monumental instrumental and invocations greet us in the short intro “Invocatio Genesis”, like the incantations of the priestess “Shem ha-mephorash. Gloria Satanas.” quickly segue into wild tremolo and demonic vocals on the next track, “Blood Covenant.” The track traditionally follows the band’s songwriting style, being split into different sections varying in tempo and performance technique, closely following Serpents Oath’s core unmistakable fury, with a primal devotion to the Black Flame.
A storm of cold guitars, demonic vocals and drums competing with the tremolo, completely transports us in the third song of the album – “Gateways to Tiamat”. The guitarists in the band deliver their layers masterfully, accented by the bass and drums, as in the same time, Tes Re Oth’s vocal eruptions make your skin crawl, reminding you of the deepest abysses of Hell. Pure Chaos.
And with each successive piece, the march to the Throne becomes
more fierce and imbued with a long-forgotten and unrelenting power,
celebrating the triumphant rebellion of the Fallen Angel.
A sonic pandemonium, under the blows of which cherubim bodies are
trembling in pain and fear.
Very fittingly, the final song is aptly titled ‘Pandaemonium’, and
represents Lucifer’s ascension to his throne and the majesty of his
new kingdom, ushering in the New Era… A majestic song oozing with
raw emotion and this typical for the band absolute and
furious malice.
So, dear dark souls, welcome “Revelation” – a story of darkness and the light of the mysterious black flame. A chaotic and uncompromising black metal opus about the rebellion of the Morning Star and his disastrous and bloody victory over his nemesis, a devastating triumph over all his agonizing creations. Revelation of true Pandaemonium.
“Pledged in Blood, Will and Power.
Commit totally from this very hour.”
