Oranssi Pazuzu announce their Muuntautuja Summer Tour 2025!

Oranssi Pazuzu . In the world of black and avant-garde metal, they are in a league of their own. This summer, as part of their European tour “Muuntautuju”, they are coming to Croatia for the FIRST TIME!  To be precise, they will devour Palach in Rijeka! Mark your calendar  for July 28th (Monday) because if you are even slightly inclined to this type of otherworldly expression, it would be a sin to miss these masters of the unusual. Early bird tickets for 23 euros are available via Hangtime , and will soon be available at the Dallas Music Shop. Their pre-sale price is 27 euros, and if by any chance there are any left, they will cost 30 euros on the day.

Since their inception, Oranssi Pazuzu has never wanted to stick to a formula. Each album shows the band expanding on their previous identity, then, like a supernova, blowing everything up and transforming into something recognizable yet completely new. The band was formed in 2007 by Jun-His, Ontto, Korjak, Evill and Moit. They named themselves after the word “oranssi”, the Finnish word for the color orange, and Pazuzu, a demonic wind creature from Babylonian mythology. During the first months, the band focused on writing songs and fusing different influences, from space rock to black metal, to capture different states of the mental cosmos. These early songs were recorded by Sami Jormanainen at the Korjak family home in late summer 2008, and their debut album Muukalainen puhuu was released by Violent Journey Records in April 2009.

During 2009 and 2010, Oranssi Pazuzu played concerts in Finland and continued to create music that moved towards a more metallic and aggressive tone. In September 2010, the band performed for the first time outside of Finland, in Germany and the Netherlands. In November, a split album with Candy Cane was released, in collaboration with Firebox and Verdura Records. The band’s second album, Kosmonument, was recorded again with Jormanainen, with co-producer Mark Neuman. A concept album about a wanderer lost in nothingness was released in October 2011 through Spinefarm Records and Blackspin Music. Following the release of Kosmonument, the band performed at various European festivals in 2012, including Roadburn Festival and Hellfest.

The band’s third album was recorded with Jaime Gomez Arellano, a producer from London. Oranssi Pazuzu traveled to his Orgone Studios in February 2013. The album, titled Valonielu, showed the expansion of the band’s sound spectrum, while the songs took on more progressive dimensions. The album was released in October 2013, when the band signed with their old label Svart Records and 20 Buck Spin for a North American release. The band’s first European tour took place after the release, in the spring of 2014.

Oranssi Pazuzu returned with their fourth album, Värähtelijä; a double album that gave the music more room to diverge and explore the vast regions of hypnotic progressive psychedelia. The album was released in February 2016 and received positive reviews from music outlets such as Allmusic, Pitchfork and Spin. Värähtelijä was also the first album on which the band collaborated with producer Julius Mauranen. The band also released a special two-song EP, Kevät/Värimyrsky, and re-released their first three albums through Svart Records and 20 Buck Spin in 2017, which was followed by a month-long European tour with bands Cobalt and Aluk Todolo. Following the album’s release, founding member Moit stepped down as guitarist and was replaced by Ikon, who had already been a live member of the band on previous tours.

In 2018, Oranssi Pazuzu and Dark Buddha Rising, known for their ritualistic doom metal, were invited to perform a commissioned work at the Roadburn Festival. The performance called Waste of Space Orchestra, in which all members of both bands participated, was performed in front of more than 3,000 people. After the festival, they recorded a studio version, and the album Syntheosis was released on April 5, 2019 via Svart Records.

In 2020, Oranssi Pazuzu released their  fifth album, “Mestarin kynsi”, in collaboration with the German label Nuclear Blast. The album opens a conceptual discourse on indoctrination and propaganda, in a dark combination of the occult future and problematic reality. In October of last year, they released their sixth album, “Muuntautuju” with seven new songs, which they will promote on this occasion in Palach (and the other dates from the tour)!
