The Finnish black metal duo Haaska unveil their new EP,
“Pimeältä, Alavalta Reunalta Elämän” — a work that continues to
shape their grim and distinctive sonic identity. All instruments
for the record were tracked at Marketstreet Studios in Rovaniemi,
while all vocals were recorded at the IV Cemetery, also in
Rovaniemi — adding a fittingly bleak atmosphere to the process.
Originating as a one-man project led by guitarist and vocalist
Haaska, the band took its next form in 2025 with the addition of
bassist Kalma. Over the years, Haaska’s sound has shifted from a
more ambient, drone-infused style toward a harsher and more direct
black metal approach, while still retaining a haunting emotional
weight. With “Pimeältä, Alavalta Reunalta Elämän”, Haaska continue
to explore the depths of desolation, translating the vast isolation
of the northern landscapes into raw, uncompromising sound.
