Hailing from Netherlands, ELFSGEDROCH unveil their new EP offering, “Voor de Groninger Poorten, Hoogmoed eindigt in As”, out now independently by the band in several digital formats.

The band unveils more about the meaning behind the record:
“It deals with “The siege of Groningen” which was led by the bishop of Münster in 1672. This bishop, Bernard von Galen, also called “Bommen Berend” because of the excessive artillery fired upon the city. The citizens had to endure this violent attacks. And as many died and the city nearly burned to ashes, all hope seemed lost. Death was heavily knocking on our doors. However, Van Galen did not get through the citywalls and the inundation zone prevented him from attacking the city from other angles. After a while he faced illness and desertion amongst his troops. And on one day he had to give up and left. Defeated by his own arrogance and ignorance. Groningen was finally free again! Each year on august the 28th we celebrate this at Gronings Ontzet.”
