Italian black metallers IN CORPORE MORTIS return with a new  glimpse into their second full-length offering, “Umbræ Ignis”, to be released on September 27th via the labels Satanath Records ([email protected]) and Wine And Fog Productions ([email protected]).

IN CORPORE MORTIS first manifested in 2002 in order to create nothing but pure, unadultered black metal. Without a permanent line-up, the first self-titled demo was recorded in July 2003 and was perceived with a great response. After a couple of years on hiatus bassist and vocalist Jörmundgand, guitarist König Asket and drummer Pandæmonium have joined the band in 2007, leading to the first live activities. With the arrival of guitarist Agaliarept things began to move much faster, first with a comeback concert supporting Sicilian legends INCHIUVATU, then with the much belated recording of the debut album “Neverwards”  at Crime Studio in 2013. Released by the band in September, it was the record that really put ICM on the map, gaining very positive responses and kickstarting an intense live campaign which saw Turin’s blacksters share the stage with the likes of MYSTIFIER, SLAUGHTER MESSIAH, INVIDIOSUS, EKPYROSIS and many others over the years.

Further sessions at Nebula Studio resulted in what ultimately became the “Eons of Attrition” EP, released in 2020 by Narcoleptica Productions, as well the exclusive track “Voci dal Supplizio, Progenie dell’Esilio” featured on the ECHOES OF NIHIL VOL. II Italian underground compilation. Between early 2020 and late 2021, in the midst of the worldwide pandemic, ICM finally recorded the long awaited second album “UMBRÆ IGNIS” – a conceptual opus that took their musical and lyrical expression to their next level. Composed over several years and partially perfected on stage before recordings, it represents the culmination of an era as well as the first step into a new chapter for the band; violent outbursts of razor sharp riff such as “Al di Là dell’Ombra” and live staple “Black Metal Extermination” now share the tracklist with complex, ambitious compositions like “Exsanguinating the Hemispheres” and atmospheric meditations as “La Memoria della Cenere”, making “UMBRÆ IGNIS” the most complete represesantion of the band’s increasingly eclectic approach to the black metal  art. Guitarist Harald, who collaborated as a live member since 2019, has now joined as a permanent member and further live assaults in support of “UMBRÆ IGNIS” are already being booked.

After several years of silence IN CORPORE MORTIS finally return with their long awaited second full-length album “UMBRÆ IGNIS” – an expansive concept album which sees the band take their trademark approach to black metal stretch to new extremes. Blending furious riffing, haunting atmospheres and intricate arrangements, these 8 tracks combine years of creativity and hard work into the band’s most ambitious undertaking, a churning maelstrom that will leave fans of acts as diverse as MARDUK, ONDSKAPT, KATHARSIS, WATAIN and MAYHEM begging for more. The cover artwork was crafter by Chaotic Artwork.
