Hailing from Norway, the new enigmatic black metal project  Fordæðuskapr unveils the first glimpse into its upcoming debut offering,“Hræflóð markar fjalla” , to be released on October 24th via Ván Records. The album will be available on digipack CD, gatefold vinyl, and via the known digital platforms. Pre-orders are possible at: https://van-records.com.

‘Hræflóð markar fjallaʼ was written, arranged and recorded by S.D. in Reykjavík, Iceland, winter 2022, and in Bergen and Samnanger, Norway, winter 2023-2024. All keyboards were written and played by Á.B.Z. (Árstíðir lífsins, The Other Sun, Carpe Noctem), and the second riff on the song ‘Hræflóð markar fjallaʼ was composed by T.Í. (Misþyrming, Marghöfða dýrið, Naðra). The album was mixed and mastered in early 2024 by Á.B.Z. at Studio 358 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Its cover artwork was created by Heresie Studio.

Fordæðuskapr (Old Norse for ‘sorceryʼ or ‘witchcraftʼ) is a new band by S.D. which was started in early 2022. Similar to S.D.ʼs primary artistic output Árstíðir lífsins, “Hræflóð markar fjalla” is sung entirely in Icelandic and contains lyrics taken from the rich corpus of Old Norse skaldic poetry.

The texts have an apocalyptic character and mainly deal with themes related to death, violence and bloodshed. Appropriately, ‘Hræflóð markar fjallaʼ may be translated to ‘Carrion flood of the wood of the mountainsʼ. The album features six songs with a total playing time of 38 minutes and contains both modern and classic Black Metal elements stemming from older Norwegian and current Icelandic metal scenes.
