“Life burns in the rain of fire / and only the petrichor remains” – so sing Kamra in their song Unlightment, and thus begins the breath of their new album “Unending Confluence”. Not merely as a sequence of tracks, but as a space you step into – and perhaps never return from.

Three years after “Cerebral Alchemy”, Kamra unfolds its second skin. “Unending Confluence”, released on September 19 by Avantgarde Music, is a kind of emotional outburst that blends the scent of rotting corpses with the intoxicating aroma of morning coffee and cigarettes. The album is mentally unstable, yet meticulously refined. And that’s where its beauty lies –  in not knowing whether you are walking through a dream, a nightmare, or both at once. Dreamily precise, wittily broken.

Once again, Kamra offers a dark yet sophisticated architecture; a chamber that replaces doors with a portal into a world from which there is no return.

The black metal of the nineties was only a seed… Kamra tore it apart, poured the rotting core over with the essence of death metal, and let it all bloom in madness.

And now, Cukrarna has opened the door of its chamber to black metal. That building, which Ivan Cankar once called “a great structure, black and silent, a lonely great house, a morgue of the living, a shelter for the dying.”

Once full of slippery staircases and dark corridors, it no longer looks that way –  but it will surely remember its former days on November 8, when the stage of Kavarna Cukrarna will host the celebration of “Unending Confluence”, and the scent of mold will once again soak into every stone of this sweet chamber.

Upon that stone –  Istrian stone –  another being has grown: Malorshiga, an Istrian ethno black metal collective that weaves oil and wine, sea and salt into its music. They are preparing to release their second album, titled Vento, which the Ljubljana audience will hear for the first time right there in Cukrarna.

The new material brings new potency: a collaboration with the master of Istrian folk music, Marino Kranjec, and the Dalmatian klapa Semikanta.

Thus, on November 8, you will witness a double ritual. Kamra will pay homage with “Unending Confluence”, while Malorshiga will, for the first time, unveil a teaser of their second full-length work. Two forces, two currents, two hands cutting the same wounds.
