Hailing from Norway, Khaos Aura unleash their latest offering, “Thorn Bringer”, released independently by the band. Physical releasesd are now available here: https://sonorousnight.bigcartel.com. All music was written, recorded & mixed by Scorned. Except the usual two suspects Scorned and Torkus, you can hear a guest appearance by Hätsk (Nither), who recorded the guest vocals for the song “Undone His Divine Light”.
Emerging once more from the glacial marrow of the Norwegian
underground, Khaos Aura returns with ”Thorn Bringer”, a work that
tempers the savagery of their previous tomes without extinguishing
the embers of hate that have long fuelled their rites. This third
album drips with an icy grace, its coarse textures now haunted by
spectral hints of synthesisers, as if moonlight itself had been
woven into the grain of blackened frost.
While “Embracing Desolation & Hate” raged like a revenant unearthed
from a forgotten epoch, “Thorn Bringer” finds the duo in a state
not of calm, but of sharpened clarity. The rawness is intact, not
as posturing, but as preservation of instinct, and yet there is a
newfound shape amidst the storm. Guitars still blaze in frostbitten
fervour, vocals still claw like starving wolves through the gale,
and the percussion, unyielding and manic, carries within it an
almost ceremonial rapture.Synthesisers glimmer like distant aurorae
over glacial riffs, softening the jagged edges without eroding its
ferocity. The production, even though primitive, captures this
tension of feral grace, the crack of the snare, the bleed of
tremolo chords into the void all echo with intentional
imperfection, a poetic darkened entrancement, that echoes through
the wintry landscapes of their homeland and the internal cataclysms
they summon.
The barbaric purity of “Embracing Desolation & Hate” has not been diluted, but rather refracted, now glinting through icier, more nuanced prisms, between chaos and cadence, between flesh and myth, between the loam and the stars.
Not resting on previous successful campaigns, the duo of Scorned & Torkus maniacally attack the roots of Norwegian black metal, drawing ancient blood spells into moonlit nights, to conjure up the most spellbinding riffs and atmosphere this side of Gorgoroth’s “Pentagram” . Norsk svart metall.
