Norwegian Black Metal legends MAYHEM unveil a new glimpse into their upcoming album, “Liturgy of Death”, to be released on February 6th via Century Media Records (https://centurymedia.store). The cover artwork was crafted once again by Daniele Valeriani.

With their opus “Liturgy of Death”, MAYHEM reaffirm their status as the most uncompromising force in Norwegian Black Metal. After four decades of extremity, the band has reached a new apex of darkness: faster, fiercer, and more sinister than anything in their recent catalog. The album unfolds as a relentless meditation on death in all its manifestations – existential, spiritual, and absolute. From the furious chaos of “Despair” and “Funeral of Existence” to the bleak grandeur of “Ephemeral Eternity” and “Aeon’s End”, each track drags the listener deeper into a ritual of misery and transcendence. “Propitious Death” and “The Sentence of Absolution intertwine brutality with ominous atmosphere, while “Life Is a Corpse You Drag” and “Sancta Mendacia” leave no doubt that Mayhem remain unmatched in channeling despair into sound.

With Necrobutcher, Hellhammer, Attila, Teloch, and Ghul locked into a unit tighter than ever, “Liturgy of Death” presents a band not content to rest on legacy but determined to push the boundaries of extremity itself. The result is a merciless record – dark, fast, and unrelenting – that captures Mayhem in their most dangerous and vital form. Forty years since their birth in Langhus, MAYHEM continue to embody chaos, proving once more that Norwegian Black Metal is a force without end…
