This Saturday (21.3.) MRTVAŠKI PLES IV takes over Ljubljana with the ferocious support of several dark forces: Medico Peste (PL), Kamra (SI), Blutsauger (IT), Cholera (SK), Gašper Letonja (SI) plus art exhibition by Katarina Ilič – Matzemlya (SI)! This year MRTVAŠKI PLES IV will take place at two venues:  Menza Pri Koritu & Jalla Jalla, AKC Meteklova – Ljubljana.

Firmly based in 90’s / 00s black metal, yet mixing in the elements of the avantgarde, post-punk and cabaret music, Medico Peste stand as one of the most profound, yet often overlooked bands in the category which by today is named Polish Black Metal. Formed in 2010 in Krakow, Poland, these plague doctors have since spawned three full-length albums  – “Tremendum et Fascinatio” (2012), “The Black Bile” (2020) and “Aesthetic of Hunger” (2025),  and an EP  “Herzogian Darkness” (2017) – a discography by all standards nothing short of “fear-full yet fascinating”! With exploring the distorted views of a tormented, neurotic subject and its schizophrenic visions, Medico Peste approach a common black metal narrative from a darker, more twisted state of mind than their contemporaries, and are now yet again, after five years since their last release, returning with a masterpiece named: “Aesthetic of Hunger”. Must hear, must see, ye brethren!

Kamra return to Ljubljana after their tremendous deliverance at Kavarna Cukrarna in early November 2025. After just one EP –  “Conversing with Ghosts” (2021) –  and two full length releases – “Cerebral Alchemy” (2022) and “Unending Confluence” (2025) – the dissonant quintet is already considered as a force to be reckoned with. Combining fleshy parts of death metal with a truly dark atmosphere, what is to be witnessed is a complete madness of riffs, intricate drumming, flowing bass and a multifaceted vocal. Behold! Aces high!

Hailing from Friuli-Venezia Giulia under the command of a veteran musician H. Škrat, Blutsauger is to deliver the rawest of the raw, the grimmest of the grim and steelest of the steel. Cholera, a side project by the members of the Slovakian band Machina Baphometa, have just recently come into light in the European black metal scene with a handful of their live performances and we are honoured to have them as the opener of Mrtvaški Ples IV, performing their raw “Peccatum Originale” (2023) in its entirety. Musician, designer and a producer; a member of a renowned Slovenian noise metal band The Canyon Observer and a member of the audio-visual collective Marta Fakuch; the man behind the experimental-noise electronic project Warlord Chipmonk and an author of film music – Gašper Letonja. This versatile artist will perform his dark folk experimental solo album “Ivy” (2021) early in the evening at our second location Jalla Jalla accompanying the exhibiton of matzemlya. Haste! At this year’s exhibiton at Jalla Jalla , the event will be hosting a young local illustrator and tattoo artist Katarina Ilić – Matzemlya. Her works in the style of engravings and woodcut depict medieval themes, European folklore – Slavic and local  mysticism, and whimsical creatures of all kinds. The exhibition will consist of her original works as well as prints for visitors to purchase. Indeed, a sight to see!
