On “Bleak Days Ahead“, PURE WRATH hit harder than ever: crashing relentless pressure against reflective reverie, contrasting chordal tension with uplifting melodic crescendos, setting Hardy‘s venomous bark against wistful cleans which bounce off the nimble rhythms and boundless energy of drummer Yurii Ciel (STONED JESUS, ex-WHITE WARD).

Mastermind Ryo comments on musical evolution and the new record: “I don’t see evolution as becoming more refined. For me, it’s about how much I’m willing to risk. “Hymn to the Woeful Hearts” was deeply connected to grief. It was devotional and sacred in its mourning. I was inside the wound. This new album feels more confrontational. Instead of preserving pain, I’m exposing it. I’ve been influenced by my current interests in ideas of excess and transgression, the idea that true sovereignty comes from risking collapse and stepping beyond what feels safe in the context of PURE WRATH. Musically, it’s colder and more deliberate, but there’s something more volatile beneath the surface. It’s about the will to sacrifice and self-confrontation.”
