Hailing from Chile, Áthraos reveal their new demo record, “Secum feret omina mortis”. The title translates to “He/she carries with him/her the signs of death”. It is a Latin phrase often used to describe someone bringing tokens, omens, or foreshadowings of mortality, frequently appearing in classical emblems and literature.

The Serpent on the cover artwork is a version of the bronze Serpent from Claude Paradin’s “Devises heroïques”, first published in 1551. In the book’s narrative, anyone who is bitten by a snake is cured by looking at the brazen serpent, where the serpent (or dragon) is usually depicted on a tau-shaped cross or on a pillar. In the book, the symbol is depicted as “augure de la mort” or “omen of death”.

Engulfed in the unadulterated strength of the Dragon, “Secum feret omina mortis” reveals two demo tracks, devoted to the depths of the traditional fiery Chilean underground atmosphere , complemented by a heavy wall of raw expression by the two masterminds behind the project – Eskol (Obscured) and Kommander Ludd (Mortumbra, Tottem Sachem, ex-Urheimat).
