Where earlier works balanced woodland atmosphere with icy composure, “Monark” is driven by something more volatile. Conceived in the aftermath of a personal tragedy, the album took shape with uncompromising urgency. The opening track, “Blodtår”, emerged directly from that moment, setting the tone for a work that moves through overwhelming spiritual pain toward a fragile yet undeniable light.

“Till min sista viloplats” was the final song written for the record and was inspired by a walk to a nearby cemetery, where a notice in the memorial grove asked visitors to show respect for the dead at their final resting place. Later that same day, the song took shape in Carl’s studio.

Carl commented: “The music became epic and almost hysterical, but I still felt that Blodtår’s core remained intact in the melodies. I gave the song a less intense middle section to let it breathe – a tribute to Dissection’s “Reinkaos”, an incredibly important album for me. The rhythm of the drums and guitars reminds me somewhat of “God of Forbidden Light”. On top of that came Blodtår’s first guitar solo.”
