Rising from the ashes of the German black metal entity Zwielicht, SRPNTS reveal the first glimpse into their forthcoming debut album, “Second Shape”. The sonic manifesto will be released on October 2nd via Serpent Sun Records.
SRPNTS is an occult black metal entity born from the remains of a former shape. Rooted in nihilism, Gnostic opposition and the adversarial current, the band channels dissolution, inner fire, misanthropy and transformation. “Second Shape” is an occult black metal work shaped by nihilism, Gnostic opposition and the alchemical principle of solve et coagula. It descends through dissolution, threshold, fire and will, following the collapse of inherited order and the violent formation of a second self beyond grace, origin and redemption. The album moves through burden, liminality, imposed form, inner fire and sealed will, ending in a final coagulation… Not rebirth, but the emergence of a new shape from ash, wound and negation.
The title “Second Shape” refers to transformation after dissolution. The state that remains after the first form has been stripped, burned and sacrificed. The album is not meant as a narrative of salvation but as a passage through loss, negation and occult illvmination, where the old self is not healed or restored but abandoned and reformed into something colder, clearer and self willed. Its imagery revolves around thresholds, false cosmic order, fire as revelation, the Serpent as initiator and the final act of coagulation. The outline of a new form rising from the Void.
