Les Bâtards du Roi are back! Their new EP, “Ici Meurt ma Joie”, will be released on October 16th via Les Acteurs de l’Ombre Productions.
Formed in Orléans in 2022, Les Bâtards du Roi is a melodic black metal band set within a medieval universe. Taking place in a devastated kingdom, the project tells the story of the brothers who committed regicide, an act that plunged the realm into ruin and torment. From this pivotal event, the protagonists embark on a spiritual journey of introspection through a scarred and desolate landscape. It is the story of their endless exile.
“Ici Meurt ma Joie” continues the story begun by Les Bâtards du Roi. Having fled the kingdom they themselves had condemned by committing regicide, the brothers continue their wanderings through devastated lands. Their exile leads them to an isolated village, forgotten by the world, where superstition, decadence and ancient cults reign. Within this unhealthy community, dominated by a coven of witches, they gradually succumb to the influence of one of them. Fascination, desire and alienation intertwine until they are drawn into a sabbath where the boundaries between the real, the sacred and the profane become blurred.
Under the witch’s growing influence, the Bâtards sink deeper into an endless night, where fascination slowly turns into submission. The night has only just begun.
