October weather sometimes calls for a dose of the beloved old-school 90s symphonic black metal to tug at our emotional strings and attract us to dark, time-forgotten dimensions. And  Worm deliver it with particular ease with their thick veil of deep occult vibes on their new EP, ‘Bluenothing’.

“Bluenothing”, the album’s first track, is a monolithic nearly twelve-minute long piece, taking us mysteriously into the darkness of Worm, walking us through death and black metal elements alongside classic doom. Beautiful and moving riffs roam the album’s entire duration of almost 30 minutes, and their variation is so well chosen that they individually feel like attractions in an amusement park. In combination with the varied and interesting guitars to follow, we can hear the same with the vocals – from choir chants and deep and low doom metal vocals, to high pitched black metal screams, piercing us in every track.

The classical symphonic black metal keyboards stand out brightly, but appear very delicately at the right moments, only accentuating and without introducing unnecessary pomp.
All in all, if you are a fan of the classic doom, death and symphonic black metal genres, this title will plunge you into an endless bottomless pit that is very pleasant to dwell in.
The band takes everything beautiful from all three worlds and turns it into their own trademark metal that resembles a ritual from the Lovecraftian universe.

Smooth and mesmerizingly massive, “Bluenothing” brings us nightmares we don’t want to wake up from. Worm delicately ensnare us in their webs of hypnotic guitars and vocals, and transport us to another time, among secret and still unexplored territories.
